In the past, I never thought about this. Now - it's a matter of vital importance.
Which country?
I've been working overseas for years, but for the first time recently it became very central to my job search. You see - before I had always confined myself to a single country. In other words, I knew where I wanted to go. I had decided beforehand which country I wanted to go to -- and frankly economic considerations were not at the top of my agenda.
That has changed.
So - during that recent job search - the idea of comparing and contrasting countries took on a central role. And to be blunt - the amount of money I could bank at the end of the month was one of the principal considerations.
Yes - of course - the quality of life too - but for the moment I'm going to confine my comments to some questions I asked, a few answers I've discovered and some initial conclusions I've come to.
The first country I considered was Taiwan. Here's what I found :
